What I like about this concept is that we get to choose whether we want to print a pattern or not. That way we don't waste ink and paper printing extra patterns we won't use. If that's the way you want to draft your patterns there are several good books and other websites about the subject. But except for the few designs which are only basically made from rectangles such as a gathered skirt, it is not possible to just "give instructions" for drawing the crutch curve on trousers, or a neckline or a sleeve head.

I agree that perhaps those curves could be the only bit you need to print off and the length of any straight lines could be shown, but don't forget websites of this sort need to cater for people with less skill and experience than you apparently have.

You could always do a print preview and decide which pages you need to print and which you could guesstimate using common sense, such as the leg on a pair of trousers.

So many great patterns! And the fact that they're printable makes it so convenient. Thanks, AllFreeSewing! I'm looking for a pattern for fleece mittens. Therefore, if you're someone new to sewing, you may want to get some instruction first there are many great beginner sewing books out there before attempting to sew any of these designs.

You might also want to sew your first garment from a purchased pattern, which will likely come with more detailed instructions. Quick fabric tip: If you happen to be purchasing a print fabric for your dress, keep in mind that sometimes a print can be printed onto fabric crookedly. Therefore, before making your purchase, always check a print fabric first by unrolling a length of it to make sure the design is straight.

By making this quick check, you'll be saving yourself much time and frustration later. And when purchasing a print fabric, remember to get a bit extra, more than what the pattern instructions call for, because you'll need extra fabric in order to match the design at the seamlines, especially if the print is a plaid or a stripe.
